SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Active COVID-19 cases in South Dakota rebounded and six people died while ill with the virus, the South Dakota Department of Health reported Thursday, Dec. 2.

Active cases climbed 194 to 7,416, up 638 in the past two days. A rising active case count, measuring newly reported cases against new recoveries, indicates the virus is spreading in the state, although South Dakota's high test positivity rate indicates many people who are falling ill with COVID-19 aren't getting tested, and their positive results aren't getting reported.
