Marlyn Ann Heim, 88, passed away June 13, 2019, at Miller Pointe, Mandan, ND.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 1470 S. Washington St., Bismarck, with Rev. Dave Swonger officiating.
Burial will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
There will be a prayer service at 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 18, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck.
Marlyn was born on April 18, 1931, in Heil, ND, to Paul and Lydia (Bellon) Ketterling. She grew up and attended school in Heil and later went on to attend high school in Elgin. Marlyn was married to Lester Heim on June 18, 1950, making their home and raising a family in the Leith area. Lester and Marlyn later moved to Dickinson, ND, where they lived for more than 20 years. She worked as a cook at the Eldercare Program while living in Dickinson.
Marlyn was a wonderful cook and known for her delicious German recipes. She loved music and singing, played the accordion, grew beautiful flowers, and enjoyed camping. More than anything, Marlyn loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Heim, Bismarck, Amiee Griffin (Lynn), Joliet, MT, Jeff Heim, Albany, MN, Greg Heim (Kim), Harwood, and Brent Heim (Rita), Dickinson; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Amber, Shonda, Gerri Ann, Nicholas, Erin, Paul, Garrett, McKaya, Madison, and Lacey; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Tillie, Kensley, Ian, Ashlyn, Ivy, Joseph, Jackson, Chase, and Kloey; and her brothers, Lloyd (Patti), Lawrence (Violet), and David Ketterling.
Marlyn was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her husband, Lester; her parents, Paul and Lydia; her brother, Arnold; and her sister, Mavis.
