Alvin Rebsom passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer on August 3, 2021 at the age of 69. He was known as Dad, Big Al, Albert, or Papa to his loving family. He was surrounded by all of them as Heaven gained a kind and beautiful soul that day. Al would do anything for anybody. He loved helping his family and many, many friends. Al was born in Dickinson, ND, to Edward and Katherine Rebsom. Al grew up on a farm southeast of Manning, ND with his three sisters and three brothers.

Al spent his time working hard on the family farm but always found time to hunt. Al attended Killdeer High School where he played football. It was there he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Carol Schmalz Rebsom. They were married at a young age, on November 15, 1970, and shortly after Al was shipped off to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic training in the Army National Guard. When Al returned home, they moved to Billings, MT where he raised his family and lived a full life. Al worked for a short time at two feedlots and Barry O’Leary before starting Rebsom Concrete in 1978. Al and his wife Carol were very busy running their business but found time to also run cattle and horses. They both loved to ride and spent many hours in the saddle together, ranching, roping, and going to the mountains. Big Al made many lifelong friends everywhere he went with his contagious smile, jokes, and good nature. Al loved animals, and always traveled with his two dogs, Tia and Annie. Al’s love and devotion was always to his family first; his wife, two children, and grandchildren all of whom he was very proud. He will be extremely missed by all of us!

Al is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Carrie (John) Rigney, grandson Keith (Samantha) Rigney, and granddaughter Alyssia (Daquiri) Wright; son Alan (Pam) Rebsom, granddaughter Alex Rebsom, and great granddaughter Triniti Rebsom. Al also had many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Katherine Rebsom; brothers John Rebsom, Ken Rebsom, and Rodger Rebsom; sister Rita Rebsom; brother-in-law, David Stroh; father-in-law, Chris Schmalz; mother-in-law, Irene Schmalz; brother-in-law, David Schmalz, and granddaughter Kendra.

A special thank you to his close friends, who stood by him throughout his life and through his courageous battle with cancer. Al fought hard to beat his terminal illness and stay with us, but there was a bigger plan in mind for him. Our Big Al will forever be missed!
