Carolyn Paulson

(RAPID CITY, SD) Carolyn Irene Friez was born on May 17, 1958 to Reuben and Clarice (Agrimson) Friez in McLaughlin, SD. She graduated from McLaughlin High School in May 1976. She attended South Dakota State University for a semester and decided she preferred marriage to a college degree.

Carolyn married her high school friend, Richard “Rick” James Bieber on August 20, 1977 in McLaughlin, SD. Rick was in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Fort Mead, Maryland at the time of their marriage. They started their married life in Laurel, Maryland. From Laurel, Maryland, Rick was stationed at Quantico, Virginia and they lived there for some time.

After 3 years in the Marine Corps, Rick and Carolyn moved back to the family farm near Trail City, SD. Their lives were enriched with the birth of their daughter, Moya Denise on October 28, 1979, and son, Benjamin Todd on April 1, 1981. Carolyn did the bookwork for the farm and also worked at Little Eagle Day School for 10 years. She also worked for FSA in Timber Lake, SD. In 2004, Carolyn and Rick went their separate ways.

Carolyn met Dennis Paul Paulson from Killdeer, ND. They fell in love and were married in Killdeer, ND on September 2, 2006. While living in Killdeer, she worked at Farmers Union for six years. Carolyn and Dennis moved to Rapid City, SD in 2012.

Carolyn was creative with painting and craft projects. She was a meticulous bookkeeper and well-liked by her co-workers and employers. She cherished and prayed for her family and friends. She bravely fought many medical challenges right up until the end.

On November 30th, the Good Shepherd, Jesus, carried her home to Heaven, where she will forever live in peace and joy, forever free of sickness.

Grateful for having shared this life with Carolyn are her husband, Dennis Paulson; children, Moya Bieber, Ben (Tiffinee) Bieber, Beni (Michelle) Paulson, Brady Paulson, and Sady Paulson; grandchildren, Jeron, Grant, Mallory, Caleb, Madilyn, Arianna, Landen, Cheyden, Londyn and Berkley; her brother, Harvey (Leonore) Friez; sisters, Anita (Steven) Auch, and Beverly Friez; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends, and of course, Clarence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Monument Health Home and Home Health and Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD. Visitation will be held one-hour prior.  Online guestbook may be signed at www.kirkfuneralhome.com.
