Sally was born March 27, 1939 in Dickinson, ND to William J. and Della B. (Pavlicek) Stransky. She grew up in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1958. On September 2, 1958, she married John H. Althof. They had three children together before separating in December of 1974. In 1975 as a newly single mom, determined to support her family, she entered into the nursing program at Dickinson State University. She had nearly completed the program when, unfortunately, medical issues arose that prevented her from graduating. Throughout the years, she worked at various jobs. Her most talked about was working at J.C. Penney’s.
In 1993, she met the person she would spend the next 27 years with. Don came into her life and the two of them enjoyed many years, camping, fishing, grabbing an iced tea or iced coffee and then going for a long ride somewhere. They had a dog, (Adie) that was very special to her. Until later in life her favorite hobby was sewing. She especially enjoyed making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls along with their matching outfits. She was also an avid reader. Though she never considered herself strong, she was an incredibly strong person and had a genuine love for the Lord and for her family.
Sally is survived by her long-time partner-in-life, Don Dworshak, Dickinson; her children, Kim (Cal) Dowhaniuk, Dickinson, Rick (Traci) Althof, Brady, TX and John (Patsy) Althof, Helena, MT; Don’s son, Raymond (Katie) Dworshak, Richmond Hills, VA.; grandchildren, Casandra Jablonsky, Bismarck, Kelcie (Cordell) Schaff, Jamestown, Chelsea (Garrett) O’Neil, Samantha Althof, Emily Frederickson and Alexandra Althof all of Billings, MT, Josh (LaTasha) Yeager, Marlow, OK, and Emmersyon and Jade Dworshak, Richmond Hills, VA; great-grandchildren, Carson, Kollin, Cooper, Brooklyn, Robyn and Cameron; great-great granddaughter Golda; brother, William (Joan) Stransky, Deer Park, TX; and sister, Donna Sampson, Billings, MT.
