Gary passed away at his residence on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Gary was born in Dickinson on November 8, 1951, the son of Henry and Hilda (Lorenz) Klatt. He grew up in the Killdeer area and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1970. Gary was drafted into the US Army in 1971, serving in the Vietnam War as a Chaparral Crewman, and was honorably discharged in 1977. Following his discharge, he worked various jobs as a certified mechanic in Montana and North Dakota. His most recent job being at Energy Systems. Gary bought the family homestead in 1999 and ranched his remaining years. He was married and blessed to become a father of five children. He was a real outdoorsman, loving horses and all animals in general. Guided hunts in Montana, hunting and fishing were a real joy to him. Gary was a man who always found a way to fix anything, he especially loved restoring engines. He enjoyed a strong, dark coffee and an occasional cigar. His distinct laugh, smile and handlebar mustache (which he was always fidgeting with) will be missed. Gary was a great Dad and a good man who was always willing to help out others.

Gary is survived by his son, Nick (Macinda) Klatt; daughters, Jessica (James) Metts, Amber (Jason McIntosh) Hoots, Alissa Klatt, Shawna (Kenton) Taylor; grandchildren, Brandtly, Kynlee, Gavin, Isaiah, Owen, Gentry, Agusta, Chaydon, Trevyn; sisters, Peggy Klatt, Fran (George) Gordan, Ella (Vince Helfrich) Neshiem, Kate (Joe) Schmalz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hilda Klatt, and his sister and brother-in-law, Evie (Jack) Buttman.
