Marie H. Wax


Marie H. Wax, 68, Dickinson, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a Catholic Daughters rosary and vigil at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Marie Helen Wax was born on June 7, 1952, the daughter of Peter and Katherine T. (Keck) Wax. She grew up on the farm north of Regent by Stoney Butte, and attended Regent Public School when it consolidated in 1958.

In September 1970, Marie attended Jack’s Hairstyle College in Bismarck and received her operators license in September of 1971. She worked as a hairdresser throughout her life here in Dickinson.

Marie joined Catholic Daughters of the Americans Court St. Catherine #323, Dickinson, November 14, 1979, serving on a variety of committees: scrapbook, publicity, whist card tournaments, lunch committees, recording secretary, and attended state and national conventions. She was also a member of the Dickinson Cursillo since 2000. She enjoyed embroidering state flower quilt blocks at the Bandshell Concerts during the summer, learning how to operate a computer, traveling.

Marie is survived by her brothers, Robert (Charlotte) Wax, and Dennis (Connie) Wax; nephew, Scott (Tiffanni) Wax; nieces, Stephanie Meduna, Jillian (Clark) Gion, Brett (Philip) Kallis, and Megan (Michael) Flath; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two nephews, Steven Wax and Michael Meduna; her grandparents, John and Theresa (Keller) Keck and Marcus and Katie (Tormaschy) Wax.
