Carmen Hansen Carns

Carmen Hansen Carns passed peacefully on March 25 at her home in Tempe, Ariz., surrounded by those she loved. She was 76.

Born in Dickinson in 1944, Carmen spent her youth happily going from base to base in both the U.S. and Europe as her father advanced through the ranks in the Air Force.

While attending Arizona State University, Carmen was hired by Safeway as one of their first female managers, and retired as the head of human resources for the Southwest region.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents (Carroll Carns and Zudora Hansen Carns) and a younger brother, Michael. She is survived by her daughter Misako, sister Kay, and brother William. She was loved, and she will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
