Raymond Luptak, 86, South Heart, died Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Raymond’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, South Heart with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Heart. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding. Raymond Luptak was born August 21, 1934 to Elmer and Veronica (Praus) Luptak on the farm south of South Heart. He was raised on the farm having attended country school and also graduated from South Heart High School in 1952.
Raymond married Vivian Bezdicek on September 22, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in South Heart. He helped farm with his parents until entering the United States Army. Ray was stationed in Germany where he served honorably from February 9, 1955 to February 1, 1957. Upon being discharged he returned to North Dakota where he worked as a mechanic in Parshall for five years at John Deere.
In the mid 1960’s his parents retired and moved into Dickinson. Raymond and Vivian with their family moved to the farm and took over the farming operation. Ray retired from farming in 2007 and they remained on the farm, but rented out the land.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Ray had a great love for music, having played the accordion.
Ray is survived by his wife, Vivian, South Heart; children, Nancy (Bill) Sadowsky, Minot, Jeff Luptak, Fargo, and Bonnie (Bob) Twogood, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Amanda Schneider, Julie (Stephen) Packulak, Zach (Arlene) Luptak, Sammy (Matt) Carlson, Jess (Ben) Molstre, Justin (Becca) Twogood, and Kayla (Nick) Due; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Vickie) Luptak, Stanley; and sister-in-law, Carol Luptak, Dickinson.
He was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Anthony Luptak; his parents; siblings, Caroline (Edward) Dukart and Adrian Luptak.
