William (Bill) Symionow, 88, died peacefully on August 23, 2021, at his home in Springfield, VA. Bill was preceded in death by, wife, Blanche; parents, Andrew and Anna; brothers, George, Steve, and Nick; sisters, Kay, Jenny, Agnes, Dorothy and Sr. Anisia and infant sister, Mary. Bill is survived by his children, Jane and Jimmy; grandchildren, William and Caroline; great-grandchild, Kiera and siblings Mary, Sr. Bernadine, Pete and Margie. He was born in Snow, ND (now Fairfield), and grew up on the family farm ranch. He graduated from St. Basil’s Prep School, Stamford CT, where he was considered a gifted athlete and a virtuoso on the guitar and yodel. Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars as a paratrooper and survival specialist. After a remarkable 20 years of USAF service, Bill retired as Master Sargent and provided another 28 years of civil service at the Department of Labor. In 1961, Bill fell in love with and married Blanche, celebrating marriage for almost 56 years. They lovingly raised their family at their home in Alexandria, VA. Later relocated to Springfield VA. Bill enjoyed walking, woodworking, and telling stories of his adventures and traveling the world in the military. Bill’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Demaine’s Funeral Home, Springfield, VA on Sept 4, 2021, at 1 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations to charitable Veteran Organizations: Korean War & Vietnam Veterans Memorials. Internment at Arlington Cemetery will be scheduled at a future date.
