Lou Ann Schatz

A memorial service for Lou Ann M. Schatz, 90,  will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 12, 2022, 2022  at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with  Pastor Scott Skones officiating. Lou Ann, formerly from New England, passed  away on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at Country House in  Dickinson.

Lou Ann was born on March 16th, 1932 in  Fargo, ND to Harold Madsen and Hazel Pool  Madsen. She was the youngest of four, with three  older brothers to help develop her athletic skills  and competitiveness. She also enjoyed music,  playing the clarinet and singing in various musical  groups in her younger years.

After moving from Steele, ND, to New England,  ND, Lou Ann graduated from New England Public  High School in 1950. She married Wilfred Schatz  in December of 1950, and after a short stint in  Denver, they moved permanently to New England,  where they farmed and ranched until Wilfred’s  passing in 2001.

Lou Ann was a 65+ year member of Eastern  Star, and she loved her family, flowers (especially  carnations), and her pets.

Lou Ann is survived by one brother, David  Madsen (Lois), Seattle, WA; her son, Mike Schatz  (Patti) New England, and daughter, Suzie Schatz  Hills (Dan), Sheridan, WY. Also surviving are 5  grandchildren: Sarah Schatz McGale (Thomas),  Nathan Schatz, Amber Schatz Danks (Matt),  Joshua Schatz (Kirsten), and Adam Benson (Jill),  and four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Daisy,  Everett, and Owen.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Harold and Hazel; her husband Wilfred “Butch”  Schatz; and brothers Jack and Edwin.

Inurnment at the Veterans Cemetery in Mandan  will take place in the spring.
