Richard Wayne Tescher


Richard Wayne Tescher, 67, passed away June 2, 2022, at Providence Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska as a result of heart conditions.

Richard (Dick) was born on August 22, 1954, to Anthony Tescher and Gladys (Pendleton) Tescher. He lived with his family in Halliday and Dickinson, ND.

Dick made several friends while living on Carroll St. Dick graduated from Trinity High School Dickinson. On January 17, 1973, Dick joined the US Army and was honorably discharged on February 15, 1974. While in the US Army he served as a legal clerk. He received the National Defense Service Medal, rifle sharpshooter badge and expert badge with grenade bar. On November 24, 1975, Dick married Karen Berger. On June 26, 1976, he became a father to Heather Marie, together they welcomed Dustin James Tescher into the family on March 9, 1979.

Dick was employed with the railroad in Dickinson, ND and later with Alaskan Railroad. While working on Alaskan railroad he suffered a back injury after a fall from a rail car and suffered with back pain since. Throughout his life he lived in ND, MT and Alaska. On October 16, 2021, he boarded a ferry at Bellingham, Washington to Whittier, Alaska, the gateway to Prince William Sound where he enjoyed watching the otters from his condo.

Dick was a fan of the NY Yankees, Packers, whitetail deer hunting, rodeos and an avid fisherman enjoying time at Ft Peck Reservoir MT and fishing with family and friends at Garrison Dam, there wasn’t a lure he didn’t own. His fishing gear was well taken care of and used as often as he had the time. He shared time fishing with his black lab named Beauty.

Dick had an infectious smile and will be missed by many. Dick was one of 80 Grandchildren of Mathias and Antoinette Tescher; Godchild of Dona Tescher Chuppe Lowman, and Leonard Lardy; and Godfather to his niece Heidi Tibor Herman and nephew Carsen Tescher.

Dick leaves to mourn his daughter Heather (Travis) Brazelton, two Grandchildren Catera and Christopher Brazelton all of Dickinson, ND; his sisters Toni (Harry) Hoff of Beulah, ND, Madonna (Kurt) Tibor of Binford, ND, Tammy Tescher of Beulah, ND; brothers Tracy (Melani) Tescher Naples Italy, and Matt Tescher, Bismarck, ND; along with nieces and nephews. Dick’s extended family are too numerous to mention by name, but so important to him, to us, and to his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Gladys Tescher and son Dustin James Tescher. A private family service will be held at a later date. Funeral home in charge Witzleben Anchorage Alaska.
