Philip “Phil” Dukart
Philip “Phil” Dukart, 93, Dickinson, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. A private family Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at Ladbury Funeral Serivce, Dickinson with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.
Philip G. Dukart was born May 31, 1927 to John L. and Elizabeth (Urlacher) Dukart of Dickinson.
Philip farmed most of his life on the family homestead by Schefield. In 1948, he married Veronica Heidt where they raised their seven children (Judy, Elvera, Daniel, Willy, Cindy, Cliff, and Neal). Phil was a hard worker and had multiple jobs throughout the years. Prior to retirement, he enjoyed working maintenance and landscaping at the Dickinson Clinic.
Phil loved music. Learning to play the piano and accordion by ear, he loved to entertain. He always had a story to tell over a game of dice or cards in his heavy German accent. He would take great delight in showing off his exquisitely kempt lawn and an unnecessary massive garden.
He was a member of St. Pius Verien, St. Anthony Club, German Hungarian Club; Knights of Columbus; and Queen of Peace Parish.
He lived at Evergreen for approximately three years and considered the staff and residents his extended family. Phil’s family extends a heartfelt thank you and their gratitude to the staff of Evergreen and to Dr. Rathgeber and his nursing staff for their care over the years.
Phil is survived by his children, Judy (Stewart) Stenberg, Elvera Reindel, Daniel Dukart, Cindy Materi, Cliff (Tana Henderson) Dukart, and Neal (Lisa) Dukart; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Jerome (Darlene) Dukart; and sister, Katy Hirsch.
He was preceded in death by his son, Willy; his parents; sisters, Julianne (Jack) Heidt and Helen (Joe) Fischer; sons-in-law, Ralph Frenzel, Jr., David Materi, and Dale Reindel. Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, www.ladburyfuneralservice.com.
