MINOT, N.D. — The political battle over a coronavirus relief package is getting ugly.

Over the last 24 hours Sen. Kevin Cramer has been on the offensive, with most of his ire aimed at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

He's accused Pelosi of adding a "Disney World wish list" of amendments during an appearance on Fox News.

"When we see a rising body count, they see a political opportunity. Shame on them," he said, referring to his Democratic colleagues, during a speech on the Senate floor.

Tonight, responding to a video clip of Pelosi discussing coronavirus relief legislation on CNN, Cramer tweeted, "You're retarded."

The post was deleted from Cramer's official U.S. Senate account shortly after it was published, but I saved a screenshot:

I called Cramer and he said it was a typo.

"I was literally typing with my thumbs 'she's ridiculous' and I sent it. Of course, when I saw what I posted I deleted it."

"A few minutes later I went in and was doing another tweet, retweeting one of the president's tweets, and I saw it," he continued. "I thought 'what the hell' and deleted it."

"Calling her ridiculous, that's one thing," Cramer added, "but retarded, that's not acceptable."
