Last March I wrote an article concerning how divided our country has become in the last few years. I have noticed that it seems that the problem has continued to spread in all areas of our lives. People are more divisive and suspicious of each other. When you go into a public place, some people who are wearing a mask and some who are not wearing a mask give each other a negative look instead of acknowledging each other. You do not want to bring up the subject of political issues with someone unless you know they are of the same thinking (Republican or Democrat) as you. The potential discussion may end in a very strong conversation with both of you very frustrated and angry with each other. Both of you may decide in your mind that you will not talk to that person again! Our political leaders are acting the same. You would think the Democrats and Republicans were at war with each other instead of working on legislation for the people’s benefit. The things that are said on TV and social media would have been considered censored ten years ago. The sad result is that our children are following the adults with the same actions!
This type of behavior is not good for our country today or especially for the future of our country. History does not tell us how our forefathers acted when our country was founded. But, I personally think they were more civil than today’s leaders. They may have had ill feelings with other legislators, but they kept their thoughts in their own minds. They seem to have more respect for their adversaries than is displayed today on all media outlets. When I was a young person, I was taught to have respect for my elders, especially ladies and men who were of a prominent position in the community. I was taught to respect the Governor, Legislators, and the President even when I did not know any of them. Their position in society was highly regarded as important. We were taught that the Communist countries, Russia, North Korea, and China, were not to be trusted as they had a world vision to control every country in the world including America.
It seems that most of the truths that I was taught as a young person have become somewhat of a gray area of thinking today. Some of our political leaders think that the world is somehow good and we can negotiate with everyone. There is a lack of respect for political leaders, law enforcement, and other prominent people in the community. This has to change or we will deteriorate to the point that our country will be overrun by one of the Communist countries! I promise you that we don’t want our children and grandchildren to be under a communist or dictator rule! Talk to someone we have had that experience and find out how great our country is. The United States is the best country in the world-We stand for freedom for all citizens! That is why so many people are trying to get into our country, legally or illegally!!
