FARGO — With spring upon us, it’s time for the latest edition of “Reader Feedback.” Often imitated, never duplicated, it’s the column about you, the readers. It tells you what readers are saying to me or about me on emails, Facebook or published letters.

About 80% of the comments are wonderful. Here are some of them:

  • “You so touched my heart today, and I am sure many others as well.”
  • “Thank you for your dedication to reporting with truth and reason.”
  • “You are a person with a brain, a heart and a keyboard. Man, you’ve got it all.”
  • “Thank you for being a fearless voice!”
  • “Thank you for expressing what so many of us think.”
  • “As always, you’re the best of wit and wisdom.”

I am touched by those uplifting comments. Thank you so much. Now, let’s hear from readers who have a different perspective of my work, along with my responses.

From Alan: “I was unable to read more than a sentence of your column today.”

Dear Alan, Try using reading glasses.

From Debbie (After my column about Kevin Cramer, John Hoeven and Kelly Armstrong enabling Donald Trump): “I’ve never read a more ridiculous piece by you.”

Dear Debbie, You haven’t read enough of my columns.

From Paula: “I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to Jim Shaw for getting us one step closer to ending racism in our time by spearheading the removal of Woodrow Wilson as the name of a Fargo high school. Shaw and his followers have saved countless minorities from the scourge that was Woodrow Wilson.”

Dear Paula, You’re welcome.

From Justin: “What rock have you been living under the last four years?”

Dear Justin, The rock of lies and denial of science.

From Cindy: “That’s just your opinion.”

Dear Cindy, Bingo!

From Darrel: “What is your hidden agenda?”

Dear Darrel, Hidden agenda? I’ve been pretty upfront about my agenda. What don’t you understand?

From Dave: “You weak minded people should go hide in your basement and lose your pen.”

Dear Dave, I think you have me confused with Rob Port.

From James: “I am truly shocked that the Grand Forks Herald would allow such ill, stupid misinformation that you put out there.”

Dear James, And I am truly shocked that you would read it.

Keep those comments coming, and stay tuned for the next edition of “Reader Feedback.”
