Tourism is North Dakota's No. 3 industry, but the state lacks big attractions that can draw large numbers of visitors and engage them for long periods that translate into a bigger revenue payoff. A proposal centered on the mystique of the buffalo aims to become a tourism gateway.
The Custer County sheriff emphasized that visitors should stay in or on their vehicles and keep a safe distance from the buffalo.
BUFFALO, N.D. — A drunken driver in a stolen truck on Interstate 94 led the North Dakota Highway Patrol on an eight-mile chase near Buffalo, 42 miles west of Fargo, Thursday afternoon, June 18, according to a news release from the patrol.
"It's pretty bad when you don't know the difference between a buffalo and a deer," woman says.
