Junior running back Deonte Dixon was one of nine players on the Dickinson State football team to score a touchdown in the team's 70-7 blowout of Mayville State. He was the only player to score two touchdowns, though, and also led the team with 86 rushing yards over.

DP: Where are you from and why did you choose DSU?

DD: "I am originally from Compton, Cali. but I went to junior college in Long Beach at Long Beach College. Throughout my recruiting process I was just going through my Twitter just sending coaches a text and just telling them 'Hey, I'm available for this upcoming year.' I got into contact with Coach Jace Schillinger and he decided to give me an opportunity. I'm here now at Dickinson State trying to take advantage of my opportunities. I feel like I'm doing great."

DP: What's your major?

DD: "My major is universal studies and I'm getting my minor in business."

DP: What do you hope to do after college?

DD: "I came here to chase my dream and I do want to play football after this. So, I'm going to work my butt off and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get to the next level and just keep striving for that greatness. I feel like I've got the perfect mindset and I've got the right coaches around me to do that. As long as they keep pushing me then I'm looking forward to playing at the next level.

As far as my degree since I'm getting my minor in business, I'm a big shoe fan. I like shoes a lot. So, once football is all said and done I plan to be a reseller and eventually open up my own shoe store."

DP: How long have you been playing football and what's your favorite part about it?

DD: "I've been playing football since I was a kid, since I was about four, five or six years old. It's been a long journey for me. The thing I love about it is you create this family bond. As soon as I got here instantly there was a great chemistry between me and the other guys. It didn't matter where I came from, what city I was from or what part of the world I was from they just accepted me totally as a brother. I've got to tip my hat off to those guys because I'm a long ways from home and I'm doing it by myself and those guys just make sure every day that I'm here doing the right things."

DP: If you could have any superpower what would it be?

DD: "To make all of the people that are struggling to make them happy and wealthy and give them things that they need and that they can benefit from in life."

DP: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would you choose?

DD: "Probably watermelon because it's just so good and it's juicy. And I wouldn't gain weight from it."

DP: Who has been your biggest inspiration to succeed?

DD: "My father passed away when I was a kid so that's kind of been my big inspiration to keep striving for greatness. Eventually when I have kids to be a great mentor and father that I can be to those guys. I would have to say that's my biggest inspiration."
