WILLISTON - Dickinson High sophomore Brady Yoder crossed the finish line in first place as the Midgets boys and girls cross country teams opened their season at the Williston Invitational on Saturday, August 25 from the Williston Municipal Golf Course.

Yoder topped the leaderboard with a time of 16 minutes and 37 seconds, 23 seconds ahead of Williston junior runner-up Micade Shumway. Midgets junior Aiden Jung captured eighth while sophomore Hunter Gregoire took 14th place, each aiding the boys team to second place finish overall with 80 points. With five runners in the top nine, host Williston paced the field with 25 points.

Accruing 90 points, the Lady Midgets also claimed second place. Dickinson was led by sophomore Symone Beld, who took seventh in the individual standings with a time of 21:42. Watford City senior Kayla Ogle earned first place with a time of 20:32, one second ahead of Williston freshman Eleni Lovgren.

Minot took the overall team prize with 39 points.
