WEST FARGO - The Dickinson High girls swim and dive team completed its best season to date, taking eighth overall in the North Dakota Girls State Swimming & Diving Meet on Saturday, Nov. 10, from the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo.

Through the two-day meet, the Midgets collected 124.5, two points ahead of Grand Forks Central. For the fourth consecutive year, Bismarck Century captured the state crown after totaling 400 points, 119 points ahead of runner-up Minot.

“We had two great days of swimming and diving to wrap up an amazing season with these girls getting a lot of (personal records) throughout the entire season, they ended up breaking every school record in individual events,” Midgets head coach Jenna Wolf said via email. “That says a lot about them that they are continuing to improve and that’s what I like to see. They have so much to be proud of!”

In her final swims for the program, Dickinson senior Brianna Ashworth earned the team’s best finish, taking sixth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of one minute, 8.31 seconds. She also took eighth in the with 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.83.

Junior Korie Riely placed eighth in a pair of her individual events, clocking in at 2:03.86 in the 200 freestyle and 5:33.83 in the 500 freestyle.

Finishing in the top eight,, Ashworth and Riely earned first team All-State honors in their individual events.

Four Midgets swam in B Finals (finishing 9th-16th), nabbing second team All-State honors.

Sophomore Hailey Rathgeber raced to a tie for 12th place in the 50 freestyle and was 13th in the 100 freestyle. Eighth-grader Charley Rathgeber also competed in the 100 freestyle, finishing 10th. She also earned that same result in 100 backstroke.

With a time of 5:35.30, senior Sydne Beld captured 14th place in the 500 freestyle, two spots ahead of eighth-grader Mara Ellerkamp, who completed the race in 5:42.16.

The foursome of Hailey Rathgeber, Charley Rathgeber, Ashworth and Riely picked up Dickinson's best result in a relay, placing seventh in the 400 freestyle relay.

Ashworth and Charley Rathgeber teamed with senior Hannah Rathgeber and sophomore Kara Wanner in the 200 medley relay, finishing in a tie for eighth place. Wanner and Hannah Rathgeber joined Riely and Hailey Rathgeber in the 200 freestyle, taking 13th place.
