MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Following a successful state club swim meet in Fargo, nine members of the Dickinson Dolphins traveled to Minneapolis to compete in the Midwest Regional. Highlighted by 10-year-old Bjorn Pederson, the Dolphins dazzled in the pool on March 23-24 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Pederson finished in the top four in all seven of his events, finishing second overall in the 9-10 boys division with 118 total points, missing first place by a single point.

The 10-year-old won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of one minute, 3.21 seconds, just 0.07 seconds shy of the North Dakota state record. He also took second in the 200 and 500 freestyle, as well as the 200 individual medley. Pederson collected third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 IM, and placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

Mara Ellerkamp also cracked the top five, placing fifth in the 13-14 girls 500-yard freestyle.

In the 15-18 boys division, Taven Wilson took fifth in the same event. Dawson Wilson, a 14-year-old, placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.

Aryana Twist competed in the 11-12 girls division, taking eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:56.75. She also squeaked into the top 10 in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 200 IM.

McKenna Mettler's best finish was just outside the top 10, as she placed 12th in both the 11-12 girls 100 butterfly and 50-yard backstroke.

Casey Tuhy took 20th in the 13-14 500-yard freestyle, while Kari Pederson placed 43rd in the 11-12 girls 200 freestyle. Taylor Millers' best finish came in the 11-12 girls 50-yard butterfly as she finished 40th.

Mettler, Miller, Ellerkamp and Twist teamed up to swim the 200 freestyle relay in the 14-and-under category, finishing seventh with a time of 1:52.9. Meanwhile, Mettler, Miller, Twist and Pederson earned 13th in the 12-and-under 200 medley, stopping the clock at 2:15.93.
