The Round 1 of the 2019 Class B Region 7 volleyball tournament has officially ended and is ready for the quarterfinals.
High school volleyball games were played throughout the western region Friday, for a chance to extend the season and play in the quarterfinals at Trinity High School on Monday, Nov. 11. Here are the results of Friday’s games:
No. 8 seed Hazen heavily contested with No. 9 Beach. After a tough battle of play, the Buccaneers pulled off the upset in the fifth-set to take the game 3-2 and will play No. 1 Hettinger-Scranton at 2 p.m. The last time these two teams met this season was in Beach, the Night Hawks swept the Buccaneers 3-0.
No. 5 Bowman County hosted No. 12 Mott-Regent. Bowman County was able to capitalize on the home-court advantage and was able to take a 3-0 sweep over the Wildfire. The Bulldogs will take on No. 4 Beulah High School at 3:30 p.m. The two teams recently met on Nov. 1 in which the Miners defeated the Bulldogs at home with a 3-1 score.
No. 7 Killdeer hosted No. 11 Richardton-Taylor in its game. The Cowboys were able to pull out a 3-0 sweep over the Raiders. The team will now have a challenge with a rematch against the home team, No. 2 Trinity Titans with a scheduled 5 p.m. start time. The Titans and Cowboys recently played on the Trinity court in which the Titans pulled out a 3-0 sweep over the Cowboys.
Lastly, No. 6 New England hosted Richardton-Taylor and were able to sweep the Raiders 3-0. The Tigers will now face No. 3 Heart River in the final game of the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. This will be the third time the teams have played each other this season. Heart River took the first game with a 3-0 sweep and came away with a 3-1 victory against the Raiders in its rematch at the Dickinson High tournament earlier this season.
