Dickinson High star athlete Peyton Selle has declared where she is going to college and while being ready to move on, she won’t be too far away from home.

Selle declared on Friday, Jan. 24, that she would be attending Concordia College in Moorhead and will be playing a multi-sport athlete by participating in volleyball and track and field. When it came to her decision Selle had two factors on her mind, getting a solid education while being able to continue to be an athlete.

“They have a good school and I know I’m going to get a good education there,” she said. “I just wasn’t ready to give up sports and they offered both track and volleyball, which I like really the most. I just wasn’t ready to give the sports aspect up yet.”

The Cobbers are an NCAA Division III team within the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and will play against competitive teams such as Bethel University, University of St. Benedict, and will have one more season against the University of St. Thomas, which will be removed from the MIAC following the 2020-21 school year.

Despite the teams and the games being filled with more competition, she is ready to step up her game and take it to the next level of play.

“I know that there’s going to be some good competition and I know the coaches seem really nice so i’m excited to meet all the coaches and my new teammates,” she said. “I know that I’m going to get a step up on training and stuff, I’m just excited to see how my skills improve in both volleyball and track.”

As every person knows, it’s hard to leave home and the friends and family. Selle admitted she will miss her family and teammates the most, but also knows that home is never too far away.

“I’ve made so many memories with them, so it’s just going to be hard to leave them all behind. And of course I’ll come and visit.”

With her high work attributes and leadership skills, it was not hard for Selle to pick a college. But now that she has declared, all that is left is playing to the very best of her abilities.

“Now I know that I can finish out my track season and finish out my high school season strong, because that’s my goal, and then I can go to college and do bigger and better things.”

Selle is considering majoring in biology. Selle will be finishing her basketball career with the Midgets and will be preparing for the upcoming track and field season.
