After sweeping the Minot Vistas at home earlier this summer, the Dickinson Roughriders took an exciting 12-10 contest in Minot on Friday night.

The nine inning game was sloppily played with 10 combined errors, but Dickinson had 13 hits in the win.

The Roughriders fell behind early as with two outs, Minot blasted a three run shot to put them up 5-0.

“Once again we got down 5-0 early. They hit a home run and we had a couple outs we should have made,” Roughriders head coach Tyler Frenzel said. “I told our guys it is a nine inning game and to battle back.”

In the next half inning, Troy Berg drove in Aiden Haich and Nathaniel Jilek before Carson Weiler hit a routine ground ball that resulted in an error and he reached base scoring Berg and Logan Bentz making the score 5-4.

All was quiet for a while until Dickinson took a 6-5 lead in the sixth frame when Nick Deschamp tripled scoring Jilek and then Berg singled on a ground ball driving Deschamp home.

Minot scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-6 lead, but the Roughriders battled adversity to take the lead for good in the top of the seventh.

With two outs, Chase Henderson singled to left field scoring Kobe Krenz and Drew Kovash.

Riley Odonnell drove in Haich to tie the game, and then Berg drove in what would be the winning runs with a single to plate Henderson and Odonnell.

“We came out and swung the bat,” Frenzel said. “Chase and Drew had a few big hits.. It was fun to watch.”

Berg put the team on his back with a 4-6 game in the batter's box with 5 RBI. Henderson drove in two runs and had two hits, while Haich reached base on hits twice.

Reese Mack and Isaac Daley went eight innings combined on the mound and Daley stuck out five.

The Roughriders return to state divisional play on Monday night with a twinbill vs. Bismarck.

“Bismarck is a tough team. We just have to keep getting better,” Frenzel said. “We are playing pretty good baseball right now, but there are always things we can get better at.”

Krenz and Deschamp, the Roughriders' two aces will pitch on Monday night.
