Dickinson State’s Isaiah Kludt earned North Star Athletic Association conference honors as the Specials Teams Player-of-the-Week for his performance during the Blue Hawks season opening 26-14 win at Dakota State on Saturday.
The 5’6” sophomore wide receiver from Hettinger gave Dickinson State a spark in the first half when he returned a punt 77-yards for a touchdown to give the Blue Hawks a 14-0 lead over the Trojans.
He returned two punts for a total of 81 yards, but the touchdown was his first career college touchdown.
Waldorf earned the offensive and defensive conference players of the week with quarterback Taylen Alexander throwing for five touchdowns, and Wayne Parrish a junior linebacker returned an interception for a touchdown against Mayville State.
The Warriors beat the Comets, 50-40, and the Comets are who Dickinson State faces this week at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Biesiot Activities Center.
Dickinson State has dominated the series vs Mayville State in the past as they are 57-18, and they are hoping to win their tenth straight against the Comets.
The Blue Hawks beat them 79-14 and 63-13 last season.
Dickinson State, Waldorf and Valley City State are all 1-0 overall since all six NSAA teams are playing only conference foes this year, while Mayville State, Dakota State and Presentation are all 0-1.
