After being unable to get the win against Northern Cass in the first round of the 2020 NDHSAA State Volleyball Tournament, the Trinity Titans rebounded to take a hard fought 3-0 victory sweep over Our Redeemer's High School on Friday to advance to the fifth place game on Saturday.

After being able to settle into the larger court at the Fargodome and finding its offensive rhythm, the Titans (23-2) were able to pull away with the sweep victory, but had three strong set battles against the Knights (17-9), who were prepared to not go down without a fight.

The Titans got on the board first by scoring the first two points of the afternoon, but were quickly tied at two. Both teams continued to battle for the lead until the Knights began to pull away with a 10-7 lead. With Our Redeemer's holding a 15-11 lead, Trinity Head Coach Breanna Sisson called a timeout in the hopes of keeping her team in the set. The timeout eventually payed off as the Titans eventually tied the set at 15.

Following the tie, both teams continued to exchange points. Trinity was eventually able to push away near late in the first set by taking a 23-22 set lead forcing Our Redeemer's to take a timeout. Following the timeout, the Knights were able to counter to tie the set at 25 but were unable to take the lead. With back-to-back scores, Trinity came away with the set win 27-25.

Following the hard-fought first set, the Titans seemed to be fully warmed up by quickly going on a 7-1 run to start the set, forcing Our Redeemer's to burn an early set timeout. The Knights were able to find more success after the timeout, but burned its second timeout with Trinity leading 11-6. Trinity began to hit a lull midway through the set, allowing the Knights to claw their way back into the set, and Sisson eventually was forced to call a timeout with Trinity only leading 21-20.

The Knights continued to push forward after the timeout to tie the set at 24 but were once again unable to take the lead. The Titans were able to score back-to-back clutch points to earn the second set victory 26-24.

After two narrow set victories, and being able to regain some stamina following the second set victory, the Titans steamrolled to a 12-2 lead, forcing Our Redeemer's to call two quick timeouts in the set. The Titans never let up in the set and pushed forward to end with a 25-8 set victory.

With the win, the Titans will prepare to play in its final game of the season in the fifth-place game against Flasher High School. The game is scheduled to begin at noon MST on Saturday.
