Area Athletics — Jan. 14, 2021.

Strong winds 1, Southwest North Dakota 0. As heavy winds slapped the state of North Dakota with crippling weather, especially in the southwestern part of the state, a number of games were postponed to later dates. While most games were postponed, some teams were able to brave the weather conditions and meet in competition. For Glen Ullin-Hebron, both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams were successful in starting both games to a mixed result. The Bearcats’ girls basketball team traveled to Mott-Regent and played an energetic game of basketball before falling short in a 53-49 loss to the Wildfire — as real wildfires swept through the Western Edge. As for the boys basketball team, the Bearcats hosted Killdeer, defeating the Cowboys 75-60 in a game closer on paper than in actuality.
