BEACH - Seven players scored at least eight points for the Dickinson Trinity boys basketball team Tuesday leading to an 80-35 Region 7 victory over Beach.
Junior forward Shawn Stoltz led all players with 16 points, and senior forward Brock Messer backed him up with 13. Benson Kramer scored nine points while Willy Jahner, Lucas Jones, Easton Walby and Noah Sickler all tallied eight, helping lead to the lopsided win.
“We had some really good balance,” Titans head coach Gregg Grinsteinner said. “Shawn and Brock really scored well on the block. Our guards really got us in the flow of the game.”
The Titans (15-4, 9-1 Region 7) were in control early, scoring 26 points in each of the first two quarters while limiting the Buccaneers (2-17, 1-9) to just 16 points in the the first half alone.
“When you go on the road, you have to take the other team out of their comfort zone and our guys really did that,” Grinsteinner said.
Eighth-grader Talon Hoffer and sophomore Josiah Orluck led the Buccaneers with nine points each.
Beach shot just 29 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 34 Trinity points going the other way.
The Titans shot 56.7 percent from the field and registered 18 assists. Jones had eight assists while Jahner had five.
“I think Lucas and Willy understand that when they get everybody involved, we’re pretty good,” Grinsteinner said. “We want to play unselfish. When you have Benson Kramer, who is supposed to be your defensive guy, giving you close to double digits, that’s what’s gonna make you better near the end of the year.”
