DHS baseball splits doubleheader with Williston

WILLISTON — In the second-to-last road trip of the season, the Dickinson High boys baseball team earned a split in a doubleheader against Williston on Tuesday, May 15 from the Ardean Aafedt Stadium.

After collecting 15 base hits, the Midgets took the opener by a score of 6-3. The Coyotes were victorious in the nightcap, doubling up DHS 10-5.

Trailing 1-0 in game one, Dickinson jumped ahead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Seniors Tristen Brunk, Chris Zubke and junior Morgan Wardner contributed with RBI singles, while sophomore Joseph Pavek added a RBI double.

The Midgets added two more runs in the top of the seventh all in support of sophomore starting pitcher Kobe Krenz, who claimed the win after allowing eight hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings of work.

In the second game, Dickinson jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, highlighted by a two-run homerun from junior third basemen Cody Maier in the top of the first.

The Coyotes tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the third. After the Midgets regained the advantage in the top of fourth, Williston took the lead for good soon after. Sparked by a two-run homerun from Brady Doeden, the home team scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
