DSU women’s basketball falls short against V-Hawks

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Powered by sophomores Madison Doerr and Alyssa Nilssen, the Viterbo women’s basketball team defeated Dickinson State 74-58 on Saturday, Feb. 10 from the R.W. Beggs Senior gymnasium.

Doerr’s 18 points led the offense while Nilssen had a team leading 11 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.

The first quarter had the biggest point differential, with the V-Hawks outscoring the Blue Hawks 24-14, but from there on out, DSU was only bested by four points or less in each quarter.

Junior guard Chelsey Borden led the Blue Hawks with 17 points and six rebounds, followed by junior guard Karen Hopkins who added 13 points and five rebounds.

The Blue Hawks shot just 63.6 percent from the foul line and 39 percent from the floor.
