BEACH - The Beach girls basketball team found itself down early against No. 12 seed Heart River.
But the fifth-seeded Buccaneers rallied to take the permanent lead in the second quarter and eventually the opening-round victory.
Beach (14-8) was led by Abby Wilhelmi and Sofia Muruato, who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Jessica Praus scored a game-high 16 points for the Cougars (5-17). Brittni Krance added 12 points.
Beach moves on to play fourth-seeded Killdeer in the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Knights of Columbus Activities Center.
