Beach searches to rebound with similar group

The Beach boys basketball team went through a few growing pains last year.
The Buccaneers finished with a 2-18 record and failed to make the Region 7 tournament.
However, Beach has a handful of returning players with varsity experience heading into the 2013-14 season.
The Buccaneers players with multiple years of varsity experience are seniors Marshall Nunberg (6-foot-3 forward), Anthony Weinreis (6-0, forward) and Carl Muckle (6-1, forward). The junior class includes Kirby Maus (6-0, guard) and Chris Novotny (5-8, guard). There are a handful of returners in the sophomore class: Brandon Stockwell (5-8 guard), Ty Farstveet (5-9 guard), Scott Lund (5-9, guard) and Sam Stoveland (6-1, forward). The lone newcomer is 6-0 freshman guard Ray Wegner.
Beach’s biggest loss from last season was speedster guard Danny Skoglund, who won a pair of state track and field titles during the 2013 North Dakota Class B state track and field meet.
Last year the Buccaneers ranked last in scoring offense, but were in the middle of the pack in scoring defense. Beach average 47.4 points last season and gave up 58.7 points.
With several players returning, the Buccaneers have a chance at a better finish this season.
