Beulah nearly blanks Southern McLean

WASHBURN -- With a 42-6 victory over Southern McLean, the Beulah football team earned its first Class A Region 4 win of the year, while extending its record to 3-0 overall.

WASHBURN - With a 42-6 victory over Southern McLean, the Beulah football team earned its first Class A Region 4 win of the year, while extending its record to 3-0 overall.

Meanwhile, the Roughriders drop their third straight game.

The Miners scored once in each of the first two quarters to hold a 14-0 lead at the half.

Senior running back Kaleb McGraw opened the scoring with a 34-yard rush. Ahead of the midway point, freshman quarterback Zayne Phelps found senior Johnnie Brown with a 59-yard touchdown pass.

Following an 18-yard scoring run from Miners junior receiver Tryston Miller, the Roughriders got on the board. Junior quarterback Dylan Williams connected with sophomore receiver Karter Hansen for a 20-yard scoring pass.

Rounding out the third was a 5-yard rush from Beulah junior Jace Lee.

In the final frame, the Miners added two more touchdowns. The first was a 15-yard rush from McGraw, who ended the night with 187 yards on the ground. The second came from senior Dawson Bieber who ran 18 yards to score.

Miners kicker Austin Feil went 4-for-4 on the night with extra points.
