CASPER, Wyo. - The Badlands Big Sticks were ready for their second duel with the Casper Horseheads on Thursday night but saw their dreams of a win and their eight-game winning streak get extinguished. The seven-inning game ended 8-7 in Casper's favor, called short due to inclement weather on June 20, at Mike Lansing Field.

It was tit-for-tat at the game's onset, with both teams scoring in the first inning. Things settled into a stalemate until the fourth, when Badlands (21-6) took the lead as catcher Ryan Gross used an RBI single to plate first baseman Conner VanCleave.

Casper's response was not proportionate. A walk, an error, and a hit-by-pitch, loaded up the bases for the Horseheads (10-14). A single from catcher Austin Shadbolt brought two runs in, beginning the surge of scores, buoyed by an RBI single from centerfielder Dillon Buckmeier, giving the Horseheads a 5-2 advantage.

Badlands did their best to battle back, even as the weather worsened. In the top of the fifth, they came close to tying the game, using an RBI double from VanCleave to cut the deficit to one run. Casper picked up the pace and earned scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Big Sticks valiantly put three more runs on the board and managed to keep Casper down in the sixth, but a dispiriting top of the seventh brought three quick outs to the Badlands and marked the end of the game.
