FRISCO, Texas — South Dakota State ended North Dakota State's NCAA Division I FCS championship game dominance Sunday afternoon at Toyota Stadium.
Jackrabbits quarterback Mark Gronowski threw three touchdowns and rushed for another score to spark SDSU to a 45-21 victory before 18,023 fans.
The Bison (12-3) lost in an FCS title game for the first time in 10 tries. NDSU was 9-0 in Frisco prior to Sunday's setback. The Jackrabbits won their first national championship and also defeated NDSU for the first time in the postseason.
SDSU (14-1) didn't lose to an FCS opponent this season.
