Dickinson State's women jumped out to the Day 1 lead at the Blue Hawk Invitational golf tournament on Sunday at Heart River Golf Course -- and that's exactly where they stayed after a freezing wind chill led the second day of the tournament being canceled.

DSU junior Kelsey Boedeker won the women's tournament with a 6-over-par 78 and helped the Blue Hawks to a team victory with a 348.

The Blue Hawks beat Minot State by three strokes.

However, because the tournament was the regular-season finale for the Dakota Athletic Conference, the Beavers -- who entered the weekend in first place -- went on to win the conference championship. Black Hills State finished second and DSU third.

Minot State's Whitney Stanley finished three strokes behind Boedeker, but did well enough to hold onto her lead in the conference standings and go home the DAC champion.

The Minot State men, which had won all five of the DAC regular-season tournaments coming into Sunday, made it a sweep for the season.

The Beavers took a two-stroke victory over DSU after carding a 298.

Four Minot State golfers finished in the top eight, led by Ben Edwards, who ended up third with a 73.

Jamestown College's Jordan Bondley shot a 1-under 71 earn medalist honors and DSU's Thomas Weikle was the tournament runner-up after shooting a 72.

DSU's Kody Harper finished in a four-way tie for fourth with a 74 and Brian Quintus shot a 75. Kyle Chan and Tony Elliot tied with a 79 to round out the Blue Hawks' scoring.

The Blue Hawks finished second in the DAC regular-season standings.

Minot State senior Jordan Kelly finished eighth with a 3-over 75 on Sunday, but it was not enough to drop him out of the lead in the conference standings.

Kelly will leave Minot State a four-time DAC golf champion.

Beavers sophomore Casey Gleich and Weikle were close but finished second and third on the year, respectively.

DSU leaves today for the NAIA national-qualifying tournament at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa. Nine teams from the DAC and the American Midwest Conference compete for a team and individual championships and the chance to advance to the NAIA national championship.
