The Dickinson State baseball team signed Lucas Rissler, Dylan McDermott, Alex Hlas-Ross and Brendan Martel for the upcoming season, according to a press release Friday.
Rissler is a first baseman and outfielder from Williston State College who helped the Gillette American Legion baseball team win the state championship in 2014 while going to Campbell County High School.
“There are three types of players, those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happened. I feel DSU has players that make it happen,” Rissler said in the release.
After going to Mission Hills High, McDermott, a San Diego native, is a right-handed pitcher from California State-San Marcos, where he was a three-time all-academic selection.
“Dylan has great composure on the mound, is very competitive and will definitely help us on the bump for the next few years,” DSU head coach Jason Watson said in the release.
Hlas-Ross is a right-handed pitcher and outfielder from Lethbridge (Alberta) College and was an all-academic selection in 2015.
“Alex has great command on the mound and can cover ground in the outfield,” Watson said in the release. “I feel that he has the ability to jump right in and earn a starting spot in the outfield.”
Martel is an infielder and outfielder from Mt. Boucherie (British Columbia) Secondary and is a member of the Principal’s honor roll.
“Brendan has great pop in his bat and can play almost anywhere on the diamond,” Watson said in the release.
