TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Dickinson State softball team swept a pair of games on Thursday and is hoping that success continues into today.
The Blue Hawks downed Huntington (Ind.) 6-0 behind a four-hitter from Mehgan Shaw and followed that with a 10-0 victory over Trinity Christian College in five innings thanks to a two-hitter from Nikki Marcoux.
"The biggest thing this week is we're pitching extremely well," DSU coach Guy Fridley said. "We're doing great things in the circle, hitting our spots, throwing with a lot of confidence ... and the defense is backing them up as well."
Fifth-ranked DSU (13-1) meets Missouri Valley at 3 p.m. and No. 2 California Baptist at 7 p.m. today.
"They're kind of our nemesis," Fridley said of Cal Baptist.

Against Huntington, DSU was up 2-0 in the fifth when it piled on three runs for insurance it didn't need. Vanessa Adame was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
In Game 2, Marcoux helped her own cause by going 4-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base. Nicole Johns was 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Blue Hawks scored four runs in the second inning and five in the fifth.
"We came up to the plate pretty aggressive," Fridley said. "The last two days, we've really hit the ball well."
