FARGO - The Dickinson State women’s basketball team held a 39-33 halftime lead over North Dakota State on Saturday, but the Bison rallied in the second half to win 70-63 in the season-opener for NDSU.
Lorna Shepherd led the Blue hawks with 22 points on 8 of 17 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Shepherd also had five rebounds and five assists. Taylor Henningsgard added 15 points, and Ashley Bentz-Laub supplied 11 points to join them in double figures.
NDSU (1-0) held a 17-16 edge at the end of the first quarter, but the Blue Hawks (2-2) won the second quarter 23-16 to take the halftime lead.
Dickinson State scored 12 points in each of the final two quarters, and the Bison scored 16 and 21, respectively, to erase the deficit and take the win.
NDSU’s Taylor Thunstedt led all players with 25 points. She was backed up by 12 points from Sarah Jacobson and 10 points from Emily Spier. The Bison shot 12 of 25 on 3-pointers, with seven coming from Thunstedt and four from Jacobson.

Dickinson State’s Megan Klein scored seven points on 2 of 7 shooting but grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
