BELCOURT - The Dickinson High wrestling team held a brief 27-13 lead against Turtle Mountain.
The Braves countered with four straight pins to close out the West Region dual.
Turtle Mountain grabbed a 41-27 West Region dual win over Dickinson on Friday.
The Midgets will now have the No. 4 spot in the North Dakota Class A state dual tournament, while the Braves will be No. 3.
With Turtle Mountain leading 13-6, the Midgets responded with four straight wins which included three pins from Caden Haugen at 113 pounds, Jaret Lee (120) and Devin Berger (132). After the run, Dickinson took a 27-13 lead.
Just like a blink of an eye, Dickinson’s 14 point lead was gone in the next four matches, which all resulted in Turtle Mountain pins.
Dickinson’s two winners in the upper weights were Raphael Lopez (170) and Chris Sickler (heavyweight) who each won by decision.
With the dual season over, the Midgets are focusing on hosting the West Region Tournament on Feb. 8. Dickinson co-head coach Adam Orton said the wrestlers have to learn from this dual and look toward the future.
