GILLETTE, Wyo. - Brendan Butterfield, of Richardton, and Tyler Kress, of Bismarck, completed their first go in the team roping at the National High School Finals Rodeo in 7.71 seconds, finishing in fourth on Sunday and eighth through the first two performances.
Results for Monday evening’s performance were not available at press time.
The leaders in the team roping are Marcos Martinez and John Goana, Jr., of Arizona. Killdeer’s Ty Truchan and Manning’s Hayes LeMieux completed their first run in 17.73 seconds on Monday morning and currently sit in 24th place. Butterfield and Kress will have their second go on Saturday morning, while Truchan and LeMieux will go again Friday evening.
Killdeer’s Lakken Bice finished her first go in the pole bending on Monday morning in 21.368 seconds, which was 14th in her go and 21st overall after the first two performances. Rylee White of Neola, Utah, leads the event with a first go of 20.285 seconds. Mandan’s Kelly Knoll sits 35th in pole bending after a run of 22.168 seconds on Sunday.
