MINOT - Glen Ullin native and former Dickinson State cowboy Cameron Morman won the first round of the steer wrestling on Thursday at the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo.
Morman clocked in at 3.8 seconds for first place. Dickinson’s Sheldon Portwine was fourth in the event on Thursday, finishing in 5.0 seconds.
The second, third and fourth rounds of the Circuit finals continue Friday through Sunday.
In the team roping, Wyatt Bice and Derick Fleming, both of Killdeer, earned third place in the first round with a time of 7.4 seconds.
In the barrel racing, Dickinson’s Nikki Hansen placed second on Thursday in 14.23 seconds, just .07 seconds behind the leader, Oakes’ Fonda Galbreath’s time of 14.16 seconds.
