Colbey Steeke leads Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawks at Region 4 individual dual tournament

WATFORD CITY -- Hettinger-Scranton senior wrestler Colbey Steeke shared Region 4 Senior Athlete of the Year honors Saturday, helping cap a wildly successful day for the Night Hawks at the Region 4 individual dual tournament.

Hettinger-Scranton had nine wrestlers place either first or second in their weights and had 14 total place in the top six. Night Hawks head coach Randy Burwick was also named Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Steeke placed first in the 220-pound class and shared the senior athlete of the year award with Killdeer’s Derek Tabor, who placed first at 170 pounds.

Hettinger-Scranton also got first-place finishes from Kyle Burwick at 113 pounds, Alec Andress at 145 pounds and Logan Lachowitzer at 152 pounds.

“I’m proud of our guys,” Burwick said. “Our region’s awfully tough. We had nine in the finals, and we had to grind out some good matches.”


Killdeer also saw Dillan Jepson place first at 182 pounds.

Clayton Mattern (132 pounds) and Jacob Ruggles (138) both placed first for Bowman County.

Dakota Garmann took first place at 126 pounds for Watford City. Liam Shannon (106 pounds), Jade Hepper (145), Kyle Cook (152) and Jake Belland (220) all placed second in their weights for the Wolves.
