Cougars continue in tournament with sweep of Beach

BELFIELD - Downing the No. 12 Buccaneers 3-0 with set scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-17 on Friday, Nov. 2, the No. 5 Heart River volleyball team advanced to a Region 7 quarterfinal game. The Cougars (21-11-3) will face off with No. 4 Beulah at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 from the Knights of Columbus Activities Center.

Junior outside hitter Afton Shypkoski led with eight kills, followed by senior Emily Hlebechuk who added seven. Senior setter McKenzie Buckman came away with four kills.

Shypkoski also led with six aces, while Buckman contributed two and junior outside hitter Jocelyn Baranko added three.

Buckman led in the three categories, with the team’s sole block, nine digs and 18 assists.

Beach concluded its season with a 3-26-4 overall record.
