Cougars earn playoff bid with win over Standing Rock

FORT YATES -- Three touchdown passes from Trace Jacobson to Zane Besler, and three rushing touchdowns from Cauy Shypkoski, carried Heart River to a lopsided 52-12 victory over Standing Rock on Friday.

The Cougars locked up a playoff berth with the win, and will enter the Class 1A playoffs as the No. 3 seed out of Region 4 and will play at Minot Bishop Ryan on Oct. 22.

Besler finished the game with those three catches for 170 yards, and Shypkoski tallied 114 rushing yards on 10 carries. All four of Jacobson’s completed passes went for touchdowns. He also tossed an 8-yarder to Gabe Rodakowski in the third quarter.
