Cougars, Titans boys golf in top 10 after first day of Class B meet

JAMESTOWN -- Heart River and Dickinson Trinity each sit in the top 10 following the first day of the Class B boys state golf meet at Jamestown Country Club on Tuesday.

The Cougars are tied for second place with Kindred with a team score of 332, seven strokes back of Northern Lights. Dickinson Trinity is in 10th place at 364.

Heart River’s Joey Wagner is in a tie for fifth place with Dalton Poitra of Northern Lights after both shot a 4-over-par 76 on the meet’s first day. Teammate Jayden Ewoniuk is in a tie for 18th place after shooting an 83, and Trace Jacobson finished at 86. Seth Keator’s 87 completed Heart River’s scoring.

Trinity’s Jaret Lee carded an 80 Tuesday, tying him for ninth with three others. Teammate Willy Jahner finished with an 89 and was the only other Titan in the top 50 after the first day. Peter Pavak shot a 97, and Cole Fitterer followed with a 98. Dillon Praus shot 101, and Matt Tessier came in at 112.


Jake Preston of Hillsboro-Central Valley turned in a 72 Tuesday to lead all golfers.
