HARVEY -- Killdeer's football team survived a rally from fifth-ranked Harvey to come away with a 24-22 win in a Class A first-round playoff game Saturday.
Devin Haxton's 5-yard TD catch from Martin Stumpf, along with Devin Arnold's successful PAT run cut the Cowboys' lead to eight points.
The Cowboys (7-2), Region 4's No. 3 seed, used a 46-yard Ben Pelton touchdown pass to Anthony Dukart and Grady Houghton's 2-yard run to take a 12-0 lead in the first quarter.
The team's traded touchdowns for the rest of the game, with Harvey's two successful 2-point conversions closing the gap.
Killdeer, the No. 3 seed from Region 4, didn't convert any of the PATs on its four touchdowns, while Harvey (7-2), the Region 3 No. 2 seed, put in two 2-point tries.

The Cowboys travel to Watford City, the No. 1 seed from Region 1, in the quarterfinals Saturday, Oct. 30. The Wolves (9-0) beat Killdeer 15-6 on Sept. 10.
