BISMARCK - The Dickinson High wrestling team won five of the first six matches in its dual against Bismarck Century, however, it wouldn’t be enough, as the Patriots took the next six and earned the 36-30 win on Thursday, Jan. 18 in Bismarck.
Despite Dickinson’s Mathew Meschke falling 5-4 to Patriot wrestler Clint Coleman in the opening bout, the Midgets went on to win the next five matchups.
In the 152-pound weight class, Tate Nordby kicked off the Midget run with a 4-3 win over Matthew Rader of the Patriots. Jacob Alexander and Caleb Usher followed with wins by fall, earning six points each towards the team score.
After surrendering 12 points to open slots, the Patriots came back to win the next six matches, three of which they took by way of pin.
Midget wrestler Koletan Hafey earned the final points for the Midgets with a 2-0 decision over Bismarck Century’s Izaiah Bitz.
