Despite taking down Williston on Friday night, the Dickinson Roughriders didn’t come out on top twice in three days.
The Keybirds capitalized on a couple of Roughrider errors in route to a 3-0 win in the championship game at a tournament in Williston.
Troy Berg tried to will his team to a victory on the mound. He pitched seven innings giving up only three hits and three walks, and all three runs against him were unearned.
“Troy pitched phenomenal. We had good pitching all weekend,” Tyler Frenzel, Roughriders head coach said. We just had a few errors that hurt us and a couple base running errors that hurt us too. That was the difference.”
With two outs in the top of the second inning, Aiden Haich let the Keybirds score their first run of the game when he made an error at third base on a ground ball hit by Sawyer Hanson scoring Camdin Miller.

In the top of the fifth, Berg hit Garret Hill with a pitch to load the bases, and then a hard hit ball to third and an error by Haich scored Hanson making the score 2-0.
One of Berg’s only mishaps of the game came next as Kyle Mischke scored on a wild pitch.
The Roughriders best chance to put runs on the board was the first inning with the bases loaded.
Carson Weiler struck out and Isaac Daley grounded out to end the scoring threat.
The loss made the Roughriders record 12-6 this summer.
Kobe Krenz was the only Roughrider with multiple hits as he went 2-3. All seven of Dickinson’s hits were singles in the loss.
“We will have a few days off here and we need to get back to the basics,” Frenzel said. “We need to field the ball, hit the ball and do a little base running over the next few days.”
