MINOT - The Dickinson High girls basketball team erased a 17-point halftime deficit on Saturday, but Minot was able to hold on for a narrow 48-44 victory.
The Midgets trailed 27-10 at the break but won the second half 34-21. Forcing 30 turnovers from the Magicians helped the comeback cause that ultimately came up short.
“To come back and tie the game after being down by 17 at half says so much about the determination of our girls,” head coach James Hayden said. “We came out in the second half and held them scoreless for the first six minutes. … They fought every second of that game, but in the end, we just couldn’t hold them off.”
Junior Lexi Jordheim led the Midgets (0-2) with 10 points, and seniors Megan Erickson and Sarah Dobitz each followed with nine. Junior Mariah Mortensen added eight.
Minot (1-2) junior Kali Askvig led three Magicians in double-figures with 16 points. Faith Hegstad followed with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
